Tattoo Camouflaging

Although tattoos are works of art, many places of business don’t appreciate them showing during working hours.

Here are few quick tips and products to help conceal tattoos.

Look for a product that will be a close to or somewhat darker than your normal skin tone. Jane Iredale Disappear - Dark is perfect for covering tattoos anywhere on the body. Work with the product layer by layer: apply one thin layer to the area you wish to be covered, feather or blend the outside edges and then allow it to set. Apply as many layers as necessary until the tattoo is concealed. Jane Iredale Active Light in the appropriate tone works great with this product to help conceal as well.

Dermablend Leg & Body Cover Crème in Sand is also perfect to cover up tattoos on the body. This product works best if you moisturize the area first and then apply it. Allowing this product to set for 5-8 minutes after application is ideal, and the follow up with Dermablend Setting Powder (Loose) – Cool Beige.

Ageless Hands

Cumulative sun exposure is the number one contributor to aging. The face and certain area of body show the such signs of aging first – particularly the tops of the hands. Hyperpigmentation and loss of elasticity are generally the first signs of maturity or aging that show up on the hands.

Prevention is the key. Sunscreen should always be worn, not just on the face but on the body as well; especially on the areas that are exposed to the sun, like the tops of the hands. Jan Marini Body Block SPF 30 Waterproof provides optimal sunscreen protection and it’s waterproof.

What about if your hands are already hyperpigmented? Bioglycolic Hand and Body Lotion, also from Jan Marini Skin Research, utilizes glycolic acid to help with sun spots. Glycolic acid also resurfaces the hands, making them appear younger and more resilient.

Celebrity Favorites

We’d all like to have the face of a celebrity, with glowing complexions, flawless skin tones, or something as simple as breakout-free skin. The following products are just a few of Hollywood’s favorites and one step closer to perfect skin!

Want fuller, thicker and even darker eyelashes? Jan Marini Age Intervention Eyelash Conditioner does just that by using reconstructive components to increase eyelash growth as well as prevent breakage.

The best way to prevent premature aging such as wrinkles, sagging, age spots and an uneven tone is to wear sunscreen every day, no matter what the weather may be outside. Check out La Roche-Posay Anthelios SX, the first FDA approved sunscreen in years.

Vitamin C is the big buzz around town. SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic takes vitamin C one step further by adding a vitamin E and Ferulic, an amazing antioxidant that can prevent as well as reduce hyperpigmentation and boost the efficacy of one's sunscreen.

Acne problems, blotchy or uneven skin tone frustrating you? MaMa Lotion Mandelic & Malic Acid utilizes two active ingredients that work by fighting acne bacteria as well as giving the skin a deep exfoliation for clear, luminous skin.

No matter what your age, regular use of an eye treatment is essential. Why? The eye area is the first area on the face to show the signs of aging. La Roche-Posay Active C Eyes will help to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, as well as prevent such conditions.

Smoothing Body Exfoliants

For sleeker, smoother skin all over the body, a body exfoliant sloughs off dull, rough skin, giving you touchably smoother skin. Used two to three times a week in the shower, body exfoliants encourage healthy cell activity while giving the skin a refined appearance.

Jan Marini Bioglycolic Resurfacing Body Scrub combines glycolic acid with polishing microbeads to eliminate rough, calloused skin. With continued use, the skin becomes naturally smoother and stronger.

For an all natural approach, I suggest Merlot Friction Scrub by Caudalie. Formulated with antioxidant grape-seed oil and polishing brown sugar, this scrub melts into the skin, leaving your whole body feeling refreshed and revitalized.

As always, when using any sort of exfoliating product, it is important to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen, such as Kinerase Cream with SPF 30. The resurfaced skin is more susceptible to the sun's harmful rays after exfoliating. A sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher will help prevent sun damage.

Lash and Brow Conditioners

As we age, the hair fibers that make up our brows and lashes begins to weaken, causing the hair to become stiff and brittle. Using conditioners specially formulated for the brows and lashes will ensure lasting health for these delicate areas.

Age Intervention Eyelash Conditioner from Jan Marini Skin Research uses a unique eyelash growth factor to dramatically improve the appearance of volume and texture.

TALIKA Eyebrow Lipocils Conditioning Gel uses natural botanicals like horse chestnut, witch hazel, St. Johns Wort and apple extract to nourish and enhance the eyebrows and stimulate new hair growth. It also helps hold the hairs in place for well-defined brows.

For clean-up, a botanical-based formula like Bliss Lid & Lash Wash is essential to prevent drying out the hair fibers.

Dark Circles, Disappear

Dark circles under the eyes are one of the largest culprits in premature aging. Along with sun damage, dark circles give the complexion a hollow appearance. Dark circles can be caused by many things, from lack of sleep to allergies. Usually, though, dark circles are a result of genetics, causing the skin to be even thinner around the eyes. Visible blood vessels give the skin a blue-ish tint, causing dark circles to appear.

One way to combat the appearance of dark circles is to utilize a topical treatment like C-ESTA Eye Repair Concentrate by Jan Marini Skin Research. With a formula rich in vitamins and antioxidants, this serum restores and repairs thinning skin. It even encourage collagen production.

For more intense circles, I suggest HydroPeptide Extreme Dark Circle Concentrate. Made with four rejuvenation complexes, this concentrate repairs broken capillaries, strengthens the skin's barrier, and even helps diminish fine lines, puffiness and crow's feet.

Physician's Complex Under Eye Repair feature four natural ingredients known for their under-eye healing abilities: arnica oil, kojic acid, chamomile and greet tea. This lightweight fluid protects against damaging free radicals while eliminating built-up fluids.

Antioxidant Sunscreens

It may be the dead of winter, but we still need to be thinking about UV sun protection. While UVB rays, the ones that cause tanning and burning in the skin, may not be prominent this time of year in the northern hemisphere, UVA rays continue to penetrate the atmosphere at nearly the same rate. UVA rays cause cellular damage and even genetic mutation, which can lead to skin cancer. UVA rays can penetrate glass, meaning if you're indoors or in a car, you still aren't safe. Plus, they are easily reflected off of white snow.

Protecting your skin year-round with a broad spectrum sunscreen will help prevent skin damage, and will lower your risk of developing skin cancer later in life. By using a sunscreen that incorporates antioxidants, such as Antioxidant Daily Face Protectant SPF 30 by Jan Marini Skin Research, you'll also protect your skin from damaging free radicals, which attack and kill healthy skin cells.

Other recommended sunscreens include Exuviance Multi-Defense Day Fluid SPF 15, which uses poly and alpha hydroxy acids to gently eliminate rough skin, and SkinMedica Daily Sun Protection for Faces, which includes nourishing antioxidant vitamins A, C and E.

PCA Skin Perfecting Body Hydrator SPF 30 is ideal for protecting the skin of the body while adding a needed dose of moisture to keep ski smooth, even during the dry winter months.

Pre & Post Waxing Tips

Waxing is a hair removal method that both men and women get done on a regular basis. Common areas to wax include the facial areas such as the brows, lip and chin, as well as bodily areas like the legs, arms, armpits and bikini area. With most waxing procedures comes a certain amount of irritation, such as redness and swelling. A few helpful tips done before and after waxing can ease this irritation to a minimal amount.

Prior to your wax appointment, you can take an over the counter pain reliever; Ibuprofen is a good choice. If you are extremely sensitive to waxing then you can even apply a topical anesthetic. I recommend No Scream Cream, which contains an ingredient called benzocaine, to help numb the area to be waxed.

After your wax session, to help soothe your skin from further inflammation, I suggest using Get the Bump Outta Here, which is also made by No Scream Cream. If you’re one of those that experience ingrown hairs after waxing, I suggest trying Bliss Ingrown Hair Eliminating Pads.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid, also known as hyaluronan or hyaluronate, is a natural substance found in many structures of the body, including the skin. Hyaluronic acid is produced by the body to act as a cushion and to retain moisture for hydration. It is used widely in the skin care market to lubricate the skin and to hold moisture in the cells of the skin.

Because hyaluronic acid is naturally produced by our bodies, it is considered safe and effective for the skin, as well as for use in administered injectables, like Restylane. Products containing hyaluronic acid are well known anti-aging products. As a result, they are used in numerous skin care regimens by all ages.

Cellex-C Hydra 5 B Complex is a serum that utilizes this essential ingredient and is perfect for all skin types including acneic skin or oily skin. Hyaluronic acid is also used in Dermalogica UltraRich Body Cream, which can be used daily to establish glowing, resilient skin.

Natural Body Cleansing

The skin of the body is generally regarded as thicker and more tolerant that that of the face, and cleansers for the body often feature much harsher formulas. These bath and body products can still be abrasive and cause irritation or dry all over the body, especially if you have more sensitive skin. Using a gentle formulation, especially one feature natural ingredients, will not only cleanse the skin comfortably, it will nourish and strengthen the skin as well.

Eminence, an all-natural organic skin care company, offers two rich, creamy body washes: Cranberry Naseberry and Pear and Green Apple Yogurt. These indulgent formulas feature delicious fruity aromas and chemical-free cleansing, making them ideal for all skin types.

Glytone Exfoliating Body Wash gently sloughs off dead skin cells to reveal a fresher, brighter complexion all over the body.

Dermalogica Conditioning Body Wash is an extra moisturizing formula that strengthens the skin with a vitamin-rich blend of sandalwood, lavender, lemon and eucalyptus. The skin feels silky and creamy.

For little ones, California Baby makes a Shampoo & Body Wash, a gentle, all-natural formula that cleans without irritation, and won't sting the eyes.

Fuller Lashes - Instantly

Getting a fuller, longer lash line has never been easier. Thanks to scientific advances in the cosmetics field, you can get more pronounced, more noticeable lashes in minutes. TALIKA Eyelash Extender coats the lashes in natural-looking hair-like fibers. To use the Eyelash Extender, apply between coats of mascara. Using a mineral-based mascara will eliminate any change of irritation, but this product works well with any type of mascara.

Simply apply a coat of mascara, such as Jane Iredale Purelash Mascara, and immediately follow with TALIKA Eyelash Extender, paying attention to the ends of the lashes. Then use a second coat of mascara to bind the fibers to the lashes. For an even fuller lash line, use a lengthening mascara like gloLash Lengthening Mascara by gloMinerals.
